CHALLENGE:
Over 900 opticians, pharmacists, partner vendors, and executives gathered in Toronto for the annual Moments of Care Conference. Attendees from across Canada participated in business sessions, earned CE accreditation, and engaged with key vendor partners. A major highlight was the awards recognition dinner, celebrating top sales performers, managers, and regions nationwide.
Given the diverse and multi-ethnic audience, a significant challenge arose with the conference coinciding with Ramadan. Many Muslim attendees observed fasting from sunrise to sunset, presenting scheduling difficulties for meals and potential medical concerns. Ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment for all attendees was a top priority.
SOLUTION:
MGME carefully structured the event to accommodate attendees’ diverse needs while maintaining seamless event logistics. To support those observing Ramadan, breakfast service was scheduled from 5:00 AM – 7:00 AM at two host hotels, allowing attendees to eat before sunrise. Daily transportation was promptly scheduled, ensuring smooth transitions to and from event venues.
To prioritize attendee well-being, an onsite nurse was present throughout the conference, providing medical support for dehydration and fatigue. Additionally, designated prayer and quiet rooms were allocated on the conference floor, offering attendees a space for reflection and religious observance.
Beyond religious accommodations, MGME successfully managed a record 147 dietary requests, curating a diverse meal plan to cater to all attendees’ needs.
